Since 1971 NSHA has collected items which highlight the prehistory or history of the town. A large portion of the collection reflects the agricultural and rural lifestyle of the area. The secondary group of artifacts represent small businesses and community organizations.

Three-dimensional objects include tools, housewares, clothing, and framed artwork.

The archival collection consists of maps, scrapbooks, ledgers, and correspondence pertaining to community organizations, businesses, and longtime residents of New Scotland. The archival collection also contains historical postcards depicting area landscapes, buildings, businesses, and attractions. Click here for the inventory of the Hilton Wood Archive.

The photograph collection contains images from the villages and hamlets in the Town of New Scotland. Click here for descriptive inventories of the photograph albums.

The library collection contains bibles, historical fiction, non-fiction, yearbooks and genealogical reference books. Click here for an inventory of the library collection.

NSHA is continually enhancing collection access through digitization and improvements to storage. Research questions may be sent to the attention of the collections chair at newscotlandhistory@gmail.com .
